The National Youth Agency: Youth services aim to make crucialcontribution towards children's trusts

The discussion, which was also attended by representatives from APYCO, government offices, a regional youth work unit, the DfES and Ford Partnership Management, uncovered several emerging issues. Among these was that work should focus on integrating services not organisations, and that further cultural change will be needed for different professions and services to work together. Services must share information, and youth services should set priorities on what will have most impact rather than trying to spread limited resources too thinly. It was agreed that youth service involvement in the debate about local level implementation of children's trusts is crucial, and that the VCS should have a place at the table depending on the strength of its local infrastructure.
