The National Youth Agency: Young people launch new communitycohesion guide

1 min read

Chaired by Sushila Khoot, principal youth officer for Newham, the day featured Shazia Mirza, author, stand-up comedian and NYA patron, who along with Belinda Williams, director of Media 19, introduced Channel 4's Self-Portrait UK campaign and talked about what it can do for young people. Delegates were also offered a choice of two workshops to further explore issues of community cohesion.

Monica Hingorani, author of the guide, said: "This was a great opportunity for participants to hear directly from young people who do amazing things every day to strengthen their communities. I hope the guide helps promote a shared understanding of community cohesion based on justice and equality, and that it will encourage more people to deliver the change that they want to see."
