Over the years with little maintenance, the park suffered wear and tear and issues relating to health and safety were raised. In 2002, the park was pulled down while young people were at school. This led to young people skating in the town centre and a new generation of the Clitheroe Skate Park Group being formed. The group campaigned for a park to be built, secured funding and worked within a multi-agency group to tackle issues of vandalism and maintenance.
