Issue: Young people contributing to local regeneration
The situation: Sheffield Wildlife Trust consulted a local youth club that was situated in an area undergoing large-scale development. Young people wanted to be involved and identified a local subway that was dark and in need of regeneration. Young people researched the theme of change with their local community. Using their findings they created a mural with the support of a local artist they had chosen. The final mural was situated in the subway. To support the work, the city council removed the graffiti in the subway and installed new lighting.
