Organisation: Demelza House
Issue: A space for young people
The situation: Demelza House is a hospice that supports young people and children who have life-limiting medical conditions. Young people and staff felt that there was no place within the hospice specifically catering to the needs of young people. A room was identified for young people to design and equip. The Inclusion Zone (TIZ) was the result.
What children and young people said: "It became obvious to everyone that there needed to be a place for the teenagers to go. We thought of different disabilities and what was needed for each one. Now we can chill in a room without worrying about who is listening and listen to music as loud as we like" (Nicole).
