1 min read

Organisation: Darlington Borough Council; Issue: Reducing antisocial behaviour/somewhere to go, something to do

The situation

Policing the Westside on a Friday evening provided a key challenge for the police and council. The Community Partnership and Street Safe Unit consulted young people and the wider community on how to tackle the issues.

A range of initiatives were designed by a community-led steering group; each event was shaped by the young people themselves and supported by residents.

What children and young people said

Young people wanted "somewhere to go on a Friday evening", where they could "be with friends" and where they would "not be told to move on by residents or the police".
