The National Youth Agency: Talk with councillors gives young people The Edge in East Riding

Youth Work
Young people's projects in Yorkshire, Humberside, Hampshire, Worcestershire and Bristol jostle for a place with NYA news and government initiatives in the latest packed issue of The Edge, The National Youth Agency's quarterly newspaper on youth work and youth issues for local authority elected members.

Among the articles included is a look at an East Riding scheme that sees councillors teaming with individual young people to provide a "clear and direct route to conversation" on issues affecting them (see picture).

Hull's Big Bash - a celebration of the achievements of the authority's Youth Opportunity Fund grants scheme - is also highlighted, as is an innovative scheme based in Southampton that provides young people with unprecedented access to the city council's director for children's services.

In Worcestershire the focus is on 57 county councillors who have been allocated £3,500 each to distribute to voluntary sector organisations working with children and young people. The Edge is distributed free. To request a copy or to get your name on the mailing list email Helena Ferrao-Read at helenafr@nya.org.uk.
