The Tackling Health Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Vulnerable Groups event takes place in central London on 20 May. It will bring together key agencies leading on community health to discuss practical strategies to urgently improve the health of disadvantaged and hard to reach groups.
Speakers will explore innovative approaches for improving the health of groups affected by economic disadvantage, poor housing and insecure employment. Key issues will include identifying at risk groups, commissioning services based on local needs, service user involvement, community engagement and outreach and specific access barriers for key target groups.
The NYA will explore involving young people in the creation of services and supporting young people at high risk of poor health. There will also be a case study of the Motorvations project, a voluntary sector organisation delivering a positive alternative programme to marginalised and excluded young people with special educational needs in the Havering and Redbridge area, which has worked closely with The NYA.
