"Our generation is ready to change the world for the better," declared Arlsan of Turkmenistan. Arlsan and 600 other young people from 141 countries descended on the sleepy city of Stirling earlier this month to do just that.
By day they ran and attended skills workshops, produced a policy document on the role of youth in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and wrote a toolkit based on their experiences of community activism, which will help other young people to organise youth-led development projects. The policy document was presented to Scotland's First Minister, Jack McConnell, at a closing ceremony in the Scottish Parliament. Two delegates will hand it to the UN this autumn. Five thousand toolkits will be distributed around the world.
