Participation: World youth event needs UK delegates

The World Youth Congress has launched an appeal for British delegates after young people showed a lack of interest in next year's event.

So far only 12 applications have been received from the UK for the third meeting of the congress, compared with about 1,000 from overseas.

About 100 places are to be reserved for British delegates at the 10-day event, which will be held in Stirling.

Applications are being sought from volunteers aged 18 to 25 who can share their experiences of helping others. Young journalists who can help to document or film the event are also being encouraged to apply. www.scotland2005.org.
