The National Youth Agency: Quality - Motorvations rewarded for work in reversing social breakdown

1 min read
Romford Youth Project Motorvations was one of seven charities from across the UK rewarded for their exemplary and inspiring work in reversing social breakdown and the impact of poverty on people's lives in the recent Centre for Social Justice awards.

Motorvations received an award from actor James Fox, with a prize of £10,000 and a mentoring placement for a teenager to join Bright Ideas Trust, set up by Tim Campbell, star of BBC's The Apprentice. Motorvations was established in 1998 and was supported by The National Youth Agency to engage with kids who were not attending school. It has continued to expand from a motor workshop staffed by one full-time member to educational provision that adopts a holistic approach to learning and offers a broad range of alternative educational programmes.

The prize money will be used to purchase equipment to develop delivery of sessions in construction skills.
