The National Youth Agency: Participation in Scottish Women's Aid

Fran Farrar and Ellie Munro from The National Youth Agency's participation team presented an interactive Hear by Right workshop to delegates at the Scottish Women's Aid members conference in Glasgow recently, to help develop the organisation's commitment to listening to the voice of children and young people who experience domestic abuse.

Scottish Women's Aid (SWA) is the lead organisation in Scotland working towards the prevention of domestic abuse. Promoting women's equality and children's rights is at the heart of their mission of "changing attitudes and changing lives".

"We are aware that Women's Aid groups may need to review and develop their user-involvement structures and felt that using the Hear By Right self-assessment tool, would be really helpful" said Janet Sanders, children's service development worker at SWA "We're hoping the conference workshop session has been a useful introduction to the tool and that its use will support the further development of children and young people's involvement as service users."
