The National Youth Agency: NYA - Byron recommendations make sense

The participation of young people in a body overseeing internet safety has been welcomed by The National Youth Agency.

The new body is one of the recommendations made by Dr Tanya Byron in her review of children and new technology, set up by Gordon Brown last year and published recently.

Fiona Blacke, chief executive of The NYA, said: "Where video games and the internet are concerned young people are most likely to want to control their own experiences and learn from their peers. The potential role of young people in supporting each other when problems arise or to explore new media tends to be neglected. The report makes sensible recommendations in particular to support parents in their children's use of the internet.
