The National Youth Agency: New book tackles learning for youngadults with mental health difficulties

The project, which was funded by the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, aimed to:

- Raise and promote awareness of the needs of young adults with mental health difficulties within the learning and skills sector

- Enable practitioners to establish and develop effective learning programmes that will allow young adults with mental health difficulties to progress, to fulfil their potential and to develop full and independent adult lives

The research identified the four most important principles of good practice. These are:

- Adopting a young people centred approach - generic learning programmes with broad aims and outcomes will not be effective
