The pack helps people to explore ideas around this year's theme of Your Roots, Your Community. It starts with an examination of what can be meant by words such as heritage, encouraging people to recognise that it does not just exist in museums or stately homes, but lives in the hearts and minds of communities themselves.
The pack goes on to look at how everyday themes such as food, family names, music, local buildings, clothes and fashion can be used in a youth work context to help young people examine their place in communities.
There are ideas for activities and case studies of successful intergenerational projects such as a reminiscence room created by young people for patients on an Alzheimer's ward at their local hospital and a drama that brought together young and old to recreate scenes of life on the River Thames between the wars.
