The National Youth Agency: Impact of the New celebrates six yearsof innovation in youth work

1 min read
The NYA has launched a new publication, entitled The Impact of the New, summarising what has been learned through the Partners In Innovation (PIN) programme since it began six years ago, and reflecting on the major issues, setting them in the context of emerging youth policy.

Over six years, The NYA has invested in innovation in youth work through its PIN programme. It has made a difference to the lives of thousands of young people, as well as many other projects, services and organisations that have been inspired by the impact of this progressive and forward-thinking work.

Martyn Livermore, chair of the PIN advisory group, is confident the initiative has more than met its aims. He said: "It has really helped to keep development within youth work in high profile. It has given youth projects the opportunity to spend more time on the sort of work they might not normally have managed, and also fits in well with current government priorities.

"In my opinion, youth work is, by its very nature, innovative, and PIN has helped to advance that whole ethos. PIN has shown that young people are much keener to engage with work when it is innovative.

"Without the work of The NYA, we on the PIN Advisory Group would not have been able to succeed. It's difficult to guarantee outcomes when working on innovative programmes, but we've been able to get where we wanted to be because of the great support that we've had. The Impact of the New captures all the important things that we did and shows how it aligns with Every Child Matters."

The new publication, which includes a DVD, is written by Bryan Merton, and available priced 6.50 from The NYA sales team. Telephone: 0116 242 7427.
