THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY: Framework brings employment route toyouth work qualification nearer

A new route was recommended in a report last year by The NYA-administered Workforce Development Implementation Group, and has been backed by Margaret Hodge, minister for children, young people and families.

At an event held last July, volunteers stepped forward to form a working group to develop Modern Apprenticeships as a route into youth work for young people. A Modern Apprenticeship is particularly suited to those who may initially become involved in youth work as volunteers, and go on to become peer educators or assistant youth workers. It will provide opportunities to go on to obtain a professional qualification with a Foundation Degree.
