The publication brings together examples of practice in mainstream heritage settings - such as museums, galleries, archives and libraries - and from projects where the heritage agenda is less immediately obvious.
These projects show the value of combining heritage with a medium familiar to young people, such as music, tourism, art, video and photography. They also illustrate the far-reaching benefits of working in partnership with other organisations and show how young people's active involvement in heritage has significant outcomes for all. They show that partnerships between youth and heritage groups not only offer opportunities to raise one another's profile, but offer a range of diverse opportunities for young people - including those from the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach groups - to engage in positive activities. The case study sets are part of a package of free YouthAction materials produced by The NYA. Sign up at: www.nya.org.uk/youthactionandengagement.
