ORGANISATION - The Maypole Centre, Birmingham Youth Service Issue Lackof facilities

THE SITUATION - Young people on the Druid's Heath estate consulted otheryoung people about what they thought of the estate. They found thatyoung people thought the estate was dirty and boring and wanted to seemore facilities for young people, in particular an adventure swing, amulti-purpose sports area, a skatepark and more seating areas andshelters. The young people visited other parks and facilities in orderto get more ideas and then produced a presentation using the results ofboth the survey and their visits. They presented their findings to localdecision-makers which resulted in a successful bid for NSF funding. Whatchildren and young people said
