Organisation Ealing Council, Corporate Parent Committee (CPC) Issue Young people wanted a decent leaving care grant

The situation Ealing Council formed the CPC in order to enable the participation of looked-after children and young care leavers in issues that affect them. One of the issues raised by young people was the size of the leaving care grant. Some young care leavers who had experience of furnishing a flat with the £500 grant thought that it was not enough. The young people researched current prices of essential furnishings and the leaving care grants offered by other boroughs and presented their findings to councillors.
