The 1st Connah's Quay troop will be using its grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund/National Youth Agency programme to investigate how the group started 100 years ago. It will interview local people and visit record offices before producing a book, heritage trail and exhibition. The aim is for the project to be of interest to the wider community, reflecting the changing social and industrial life of the town throughout the 20th century.
Jennifer Stewart, Heritage Lottery Fund manager for Wales, said: "This is an excellent project that sets out to connect young people from the Connah's Quay community with their Scouting heritage and to give them a greater understanding of how it forms a link between historical and contemporary Britain."
