Because young people are products of their environments they often have a strong grasp of the problems faced by other young people in the community. They are able to come up with creative and engaging solutions to address these issues.
"At a strategic level too it is important that young people feel they are able to influence decisions that affect them and that their contribution is not just tokenistic.
"Another key factor in developing cohesion is the need to promote more positive profiles of young people. All of the projects featured in this issue believe passionately in young people and their ability to be active participants and agents for change in their local communities."
