Crafty timing I suspect, targeting people bored with their desk jobs just at a time when they are starting to dread going back in January.
You'll probably have seen the ads - they stuck out like Jerry Springer at midnight mass in that they were apaean to the creativity and likeability of young people. "Do you work with the most interesting people in the world?" they asked against a backdrop of smiling, motivated pupils. "Do you ever have discussions with people who haven't made their minds up yet?" they continued.
A couple of points rose in my mind. Has this vision of young people become official government policy? Will it be carried over into the Home Office's world view too? If so, I think we can hope for some major policy shifts. But in my view, and I'm sure that of a few Young People Now readers too, it posed the question that if you are attracted to the independent, enquiring, provocative spirit of young people, wouldn't you rather be a youth worker?
