Social policy increasingly identifies detached youth work as having a key role to play in working with young people at risk, socially excluded or not in education, employment or training (NEET). At the same time, social policy appears to regulate the very environment in which many of these young people, and those working with them, are to be found: the street.
The conference will examine and seek creative and practical responses to the many dilemmas faced by today's detached youth workers - from the impact of antisocial behaviour orders and to questions about target-driven funding.
