The National Youth Agency: Access to information and knowledge is prerequisite for full human rights

1 min read
The National Youth Agency (NYA) recently attended a seminar organised by the Directorate of Youth and Sport at the Council of Europe on new ways of participation based on information and communication technologies at the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg.

The seminar aimed to bring participants together ranging from policy makers, youth researchers, youth organisations and young people to explore different ways of participation and to develop strategies on how they can be implemented in youth work practice, youth educational programmes, youth research and policy.

Dr Darren Sharpe, co-ordinator of The NYA's Young Researcher Network, represented The NYA with Daniel Crawford, a young person from the Have Your Say project run by North Tyneside Council.

He said: "The objective of the meeting was to make recommendations on how e-participation can support the implementation of Agenda 2020. Participants put a lot of effort into developing these recommendations, in the hope that they will be considered by the statutory bodies of the Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe."
