Workers believe that if these young people attended "normal" youth clubs instead they would immediately be identified as "different". At Y02 they are identified only by what they can do, and not by anything else. When the club faced the threat of closure, the young people applied for - and won - essential funds from the Youth Opportunity Fund. Now financially secure until 2008, the club can offer The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and at least half of its members are currently in training for the Bronze Award.
