The Ferret: Together Trust conjures spirit of the 1970s

It's a Knockout was staple TV viewing in many a household during its 1970s heyday. Royals and famous faces getting soaked, flattened and generally degraded was great family entertainment in those days.

Although long gone from our TV screens, Ferret is pleased to see that Together Trust is ensuring the format lives on. The charity - which provides support for children and adults with special educational needs - runs an It's a Knockout competition during its family fun day held every year in the North West this month. Local companies enter teams to take part in the fun, with contestants, some resplendent in fancy dress costumes, navigating an obstacle course. Bring out the joker!

It is widely accepted that risk-taking behaviour by young people is a rite of passage, an almost inevitable consequence of a heady mix of social and biological changes in the teenage years.
