The Ferret was the diary page moniker of Young People Now magazine until September 2007, when this beautiful, holistic, organ was born into the world (yes, Children & Young People Now, we're talking about you).

So after a decade in hibernation, ladies and gentlemen, please doff your caps to welcome our trusted furry friend, who will rummage around to bring you the news behind the news (across children's services, that is - he's a very specialist ferret).

CYP Now disproves ‘fake news' slur

The Ferret was distraught to hear that senior DfE officials branded our exclusive story about the government deciding to drop the exemption clauses from the Children and Social Work Bill as "fake news".

Our sector moles tell us that when the story broke, there were a number of meetings taking place involving senior DfE officials who were quick to dismiss CYP Now's exclusive as wrong, only to have to eat humble pie soon after when the department's very own press office confirmed the story to be correct.
