Children Now and Young People Now this week launch the first national awards aimed at celebrating the achievements of professionals across the children's services sector.

Services for children and young people have undergone a revolution overthe past few years, with many of the changes still taking place.

And all over the country, innovative work is under way that exemplifiesthe principles enshrined in Every Child Matters and the Children Act2004, aimed at improving the lives of children and young people acrossthe five outcomes of being healthy, staying safe, making a positivecontribution, enjoying and achieving and economic wellbeing.

This work is taking place at every level, some of it project-based andwith a preventative focus, some of it involving change throughoutorganisations in order to make them more child-focused, and some of itinvolving the demanding task of creating services where none existedbefore.
