Innovative work aimed at improving the lives of the UK's young people -and which exemplifies the principles enshrined in Every Child Matters,the Children Act 2004 and Youth Matters - is taking place right acrossthe four nations.
This work takes place at every level, some of it project-based and witha preventative focus, some of it involving change throughoutorganisations in order to make them more child focused. There is alsothe demanding task of creating services where none existed before.
Last year's inaugural Children and Young People's Services Awards wererefreshing and inspiring in their celebration of the best work fromacross the sector. They culminated last November in a glitteringceremony where the atmosphere was electric. Among attendees was ministerfor children, young people and families, Beverley Hughes.
