Telford & Wrekin cafes hit the mark

Youth Work
Two youth cafes in Telford & Wrekin are proving a hit with local young people.

Tibberton Youth Cafe opened one evening a week in the local village hall four months ago and already has 70 members aged 10 to 15. A youth cafe in Hadley also opened four months ago and now has about 40 members aged 12 to 16.

The cafes have been funded by money from the youth opportunity fund and Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council. Both are run by local volunteer leaders.

Councillor Stephen Burrell, cabinet member for children and young people at Telford & Wrekin, said: "Both of these cafes show how communities can provide useful facilities for young people that ultimately benefit the whole community."
