Teen pregnancy scheme a success

Youth Work
A programme designed to educate young people about the challenges of parenthood has led to a significant reduction in teenage pregnancy rates.

Almost all of the 14- to 20-year-olds (96 per cent) who took part in the Teens and Toddlers programme reported that they or their partner had not fallen pregnant since taking part, according to its 2009 retrospective study. More than 451 young people who took part in the scheme replied to the survey.

Teens and Toddlers combines hands-on experience in a nursery with one-to-one counselling and classroom sessions.
