ChildLine has reported a massive rise in the number of suicidal children and young people calling its counsellors.
Around 60 children and young people with suicidal thoughts call the counselling service each week - treble the figure of five years ago.
Of those that call, an average one in 14 are in immediate danger or in need of urgent medical treatment. Some even made suicide attempts while calling the service.
The NSPCC, which merged with ChildLine three years ago, offers advice to parents on understanding the importance of peer pressure for young people, as well as the impact of their changing bodies. Mental health charity YoungMinds adds that youth workers have an important role to play in addressing emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.
