I would create new bullying-prevention criteria for schools to follow that must be inspected and regulated by Ofsted. And I would make an unconditional commitment to support the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA), Young ABA, of which I am a board member, and The Diana Award, which recognises young people who have made a selfless contribution to their community.
I would develop a mass publicity campaign programme, because the media is probably the most powerful entity when we're trying to change culture. I want to see adverts on the television, I want to see billboards and I want them all to send out a clear and catchy message that "we ain't gonna let bullying of any kind happen". I don't want the dusty anti-bullying policy stuck on the shelf to be the only source that provides this message.
