NCB Now: Setting up the Young Anti-Bullying Alliance

1 min read
In the news at the moment and more generally, bullying has become a bigger and bigger issue for young people.

At the Diana Princess of Wales memorial award we are now working with the ABA on setting up a new project called the Young Anti-Bullying Alliance (Young ABA).

Being a previous winner of the Diana-Anti-Bullying award myself, I feel very privileged to have been given the chance to help co-ordinate and run this exciting project.

The Young ABA board will consist of nine members who are all Diana Anti-Bullying Award holders and will be the channel through which young people from across the country will get involved in tackling bullying issues on a national scale.

We believe that young people should be viewed as part of the solution to bullying rather than the problem.

By handing them the reigns, the Young ABA hopes to gain a greater understanding of how we can work together to tackle bullying.

Some of the early work of Young ABA includes co-chairing the ABA conference on Strategic Anti-Bullying Guidance for Safer Schools on 19 November and judging the Nickelodeon Anti-Bullying poetry competition.

- Had Armitstead is a Young Anti-Bullying Alliance co-coordinator.
