Sport: Development unit launches in London

1 min read

The unit will tackle obesity and help the Government achieve its goal of 75 per cent of schoolchildren doing at least two hours of physical activity a week.

Sport England is funding the unit for three years but it is being managed by five voluntary organisations. They are the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS), which is the lead partner, 4Children, Clubs for Young People, UK Youth and YMCA England.

The unit will not run its own activity programmes or issue grants. Instead it hopes to take a strategic role, identifying what schemes already exist, promoting the best ones and helping organisations access funding.
