The Amaechi Basketball Centres Foundation - which already operates a centre in Manchester - has submitted a planning application to Bradford Council with a view to developing a site in the Wyke area that would include a number of basketball courts, a coaching academy, a "fitness suite" and physiotherapy.
The foundation also aims to help young people in other areas of their lives through its links with organisations such as the National Literacy Trust, One Parent Families, Connexions and NSPCC.
