Somewhere to go: Kirby builds teenagers a new skatepark

Teenagers test out Kirby's new skatepark last week. The skatepark is based in the town's Wignall Park and caters for children aged seven to 16 years old.

Its construction was paid for by a 10,000 grant from the BigLottery Fund's Fairshare Programme. Andrew McCormick, assistant directorof leisure and community services at Knowsley Metropolitan BoroughCouncil, said: "This skate park is a fantastic addition to the borough.This is part of our commitment to take a fresh look at the provision ofleisure activities for young people to ensure that this important groupis not left with the feeling that there is nowhere to go."
