The Stafford Collegiate brings together six secondary schools, a further education college and a sixth form centre. It offers 2,000 qualifications to a total of 12,000 learners aged 14 to 19.
As part of its preparation for the introduction of the new diploma qualifications, which will see pupils studying courses in different locations across the Midlands town, the collegiate is tracking pupil attendance and achievement to identify and address problems early.
Using software developed by IT firms Capita and Perspective, the collegiate can identify absences and monitor achievements as they happen.
Phil Cumming, head of the collegiate, said: "Diplomas are going to require a change in culture. One of the concerns about them is losing contact with learners so problems are not spotted. The traditional ways of monitoring attendance and achievement are dead, since if the information isn't available immediately you can't make the timely interventions needed."
