Social Exclusion: EU states urged to respect youth work

The body has agreed to a resolution on the social integration of young people that calls on EU nations to take steps to provide better support to vulnerable young people.

The resolution also said EU nations should consider the needs of disadvantaged young people in housing policy.

Member states are now being urged to increase their efforts to combat discrimination among young people.

The council's views are likely to be factored into the European Commission's forthcoming youth policy for 2007 to 2013.
