Social Care News: Workforce - Welsh may bring in social work aids

The Welsh Assembly Government has floated plans to employ social work assistants.

A consultation on social services strategy asks whether there is a casefor rethinking workforce assumptions. The paper asks: "Classroomassistants free up teachers' time. Do we need a similar shift in socialservices?"

A Welsh Assembly spokesman said there were no plans to split children'ssocial services from adult services, as in England.
