44% of looked-after children were subject to care orders (65 per cent in England)
26% of looked-after children have three or more placements throughout the year (15 per cent in England)
61% of care leavers get at least one GCSE (46 per cent in England)
Rural Somerset has one of the lowest proportions of looked-after children in the south west of England: only Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and the Isles of Scilly have fewer children in care. However, the proportion has displayed a slight upward trend over the past two years. There has also been a drift in recent years away from Section 20 accommodations and towards care orders. But, the percentage of care leavers gaining one GCSE is very high.
