82% of young people looked after at 16 were in education, training or employment when they reached 19 in 2003/04 (55 per cent in England)

2,042 gross weekly spend per looked-after child in a children's home in 2003/04 (2,048 in England)

89% of children looked after continuously for at least a year had an annual health and dental check (75 per cent in England)

10% of looked-after children had three or more placements during 2003/04 (13 per cent in England)

Margaret McGlade, Derby's director of social services, said: "Partnerships, social work assessment and commitment are at the heart of these outcomes."
