Social Care News: Registration - Review officers given more time

The Government has pushed back the deadline for the registration of independent officers who review the cases of looked-after children, but social care regulators say there are no problems with processing applications.

The General Social Care Council had estimated there were between 500 and 700 officers in England, and it has already received 665 applications.

The Government announced last week that it would push the deadline back to 1 April 2005 to harmonise the registration of independent reviewing officers with that of all social workers.
