Social Care News: looked-after children - Blair let down fosteredchildren

Tony Blair has failed children in care by doing too little to improve their lives, according to the Fostering Network.

Chief executive Robert Tapsfield attacked Blair's record as the PrimeMinister prepares to step down as Labour's leader.

He said GCSE results of looked-after children are still not good enoughand girls in care are three times more likely to become teenagemothers.

"Under Tony Blair, insufficient effort has been made to recognise thevital role and contribution foster carers make in today's society," headded.
