Social Care News: Inter-authority moves - Protocol to improve careleaver support

The Government has revised an official protocol to ensure that care leavers get better support if they move to another authority.

The second version of the national protocol on inter-authorityarrangements for care leavers states: "Each authority will provide anamed lead officer.

This should be the service manager with accountability for theauthority's leaving care services, who can be contacted in the event ofdifficulty and who will try to resolve any concerns reported about theservice offered to young people."

The revised document was produced by the Department for Education andSkills and the Association of Directors of Social Services.
