Social Care News: Care Leavers - Cross-authority protocol is revised

Guidance to help care leavers who move between authorities access better support and services has been issued to councils.

The protocol, agreed between the Association of Directors of Social Services and the Department for Education and Skills, has been issued to tackle concerns that care leavers who move out of their authority find it hard to access support.

The guidance states that the responsible authority (the one being left) retains responsibility. Young people must be involved in the planning and negotiations to do with their move.
