Social Care News: Intensive fostering - First young personcompletes scheme

The first young person to complete a period of intensive fostering has graduated in Staffordshire.

"Because of the time I've spent on the programme I am now back at schoolwith the prospect of doing well in my exams. I feel more confident andready to do part-time work to support myself," she said.

"The intensive fostering scheme is one of the most exciting developmentswithin the youth justice arena," said Steve Spencer, deputy head ofStaffordshire youth offending service. "Staffordshire fought hard tobecome a pilot area and the graduation ceremony is a vindication of allthe hard work put in by the staff, and most of all by the young personherself. She now has the opportunity to return to her community andcontinue with the excellent progress she has made."
