Youth Justice: Intensive fostering scheme is early success

The 15-year-old young woman, who cannot be named, took part in the Staffordshire pilot, and had been supervised by Staffordshire Youth Offending Service. She is now preparing to take exams, and start a part-time job.

The scheme is being piloted in Hampshire and Staffordshire. Where a young persons home life is felt to significantly contribute to their offending, they can be placed with specially trained foster carers. A team of workers support the carers, the young person and the birth family.
