Social Care News: Intensive fostering - NCH to run second pilotprogramme

Children's charity NCH has taken over an intensive fostering scheme for young offenders in London.

Previously run by The Clarion Agency, the scheme is one of three pilotscommissioned by the Youth Justice Board. NCH already runs one inHampshire.

The schemes, launched in March 2005, aim to reduce crime by puttingyoung offenders in the care of specially trained foster carers for up toa year.

According to the Youth Justice Board, The Clarion Agency withdrew fromrunning the London scheme because of a lack of referrals.
